23 Days Left!
That’s right folks! There are only 23 days left until Halloween! I must say that for the first time ever, it looks like I may finish all prop building ahead of time!
I’m sure my neighbours have seen the countdown sign on my front lawn, but now in addition is Herman the zombie skeleton! He didn’t turn out exactly as I had expected, but that’s OK. Here are some pictures:

Now if you’re wondering what goodies I got on my recent trip to romantic Buffalo, I’m afraid I did not get much, aside from an awesome pair of sneakers! However, I do have one thing to show you that I am especially proud of. While perusing the walls of a Spencers Gifts in the Walden Galleria, I came across the most perfect of baby hats and knew that I just had to buy it for my soon to be born nephew (brother’s first kid!). Take a look:

Ok that’s all for now, but this Saturday I will be building a gate and some new fence sections, so expect the fence and columns to be up on the lawn sometime next week!
Kids costumes
As Halloween nears, posts on the site may come less frequently. I have a lot still to build, plus a life outside of the haunt, but fear not, as I will continue to update you on all things Haunt on the Hill as they happen.
Today however, I want your opinion on kids’ costumes for Halloween. Cute or creepy. Let the debate begin!

I have no children of my own yet, but I do have a nephew and a niece and I have taken it on as my responsibility to teach these monsters about all things Halloween. I let my nephew name some of my props, that way he isn’t scared of them.
I take him to Halloween stores to pick out his costume too. There’s only so much I can do though. When he says he wants to be a Power Ranger, I cringe and say, “wouldn’t you rather be a scary skeleton or a zombie?” Alas, television has dictated what he should be and I no longer have the control to dress him as I please, like I did when he was a baby. To clarify, he just turned six.
My niece of the other hand is only two, so while she may not understand Halloween, she can somewhat be forced into a costume for the minute it takes for both grandmothers to “ooh” and “aww”. Then she cries to be set free.
Here are some pictures of The Sampire and Rosie Pumpkin-head from over the years.

Now, for those of you who have children, what do they dress as? Do you go traditional Halloween and go with witches and bed sheet ghosts? Are they too obsessed with TV characters and dress up as them? Do you put your baby in the most obnoxiously cute costume you can find, or do you horror them up? Share below!
Site I Like – New feature
This has been a very productive weekend here at the haunt. I have completed many props and have fixed some others, not to
mention I did a major cleaning of the dungeon! Not only was there a lot of construction going on, but I also had my blog in mind.
I am proud to announce that hauntonthehill.com will have a new blog series that will pop up every now and then, entitled, “Site I Like”. These posts will feature other sites I like, be it because of the sites’ design itself, or because of the awesome work of the home haunter, store, etc… These are not just any random sites. They are sites that I find particularly awesome. Feel free to send me a link if you think of a site I might just like.
Here is the first ever Site I Like:
Please Donate!
Hello and a happy Friday to you all! Today’s blog is a quickie, as I really should be out in the dungeon working on things!
Firstly, I would really like to take a moment to remind everyone that Haunt on the Hill proudly raises money for The SickKids Foundation. We accept sponsorship to help with our efforts. You can see the list of current sponsors here and you can find out how your business can become a sponsor here. We also collect monetary donations on Halloween night, but if you can’t make it to the haunt and still want to
donate, we also have an online donation page here. It is a secure way to donate and is done through The SickKids Foundation website, so you know it is legit. Please take a moment to consider donating, no matter how small the donation, every bit helps!
This year is the first year I am actively seeking sponsors. If you know of a local business that would like to help out, please contact me. I would also like to thank my current sponsors, some of which are not listed on the site yet, but will be as soon as details are confirmed.
As for an update on the haunt, I have been working hard on fixing up some things from previous years and making additions as well. At the end of this month, my countdown sign will be up on the lawn! Things are slowly getting done, but I assure you, they will all be done in time for Halloween 2010!
Enjoy the rest of your summer because before you know it, All Hallows Eve will be upon us! Mwahahahahaha!
Yours truly,
